Introduction to Silk Painting Class with Vicky Luffman

This is a four-week course introducing the art of painting on silk. Students will learn the basic concepts of painting: design, composition, color theory and technique to create a beautiful painting that will be mounted on canvas and ready to display. This class is  designed to meet all skill levels, and no prior painting or drawing experience is required. I will personally guide each student through every step of their painting.

Students will be able to choose from a variety of sketches for this class, and with my guidance, choose their color palette for their painting. Silk painting requires a special dye that is water based, permanent, and with many vibrant colors to choose from. Students will learn to stretch the silk on a frame, transfer their design, and how to apply a resist. Students will learn blending and painting techniques with watercolor brushes, and explore how to achieve texture and depth in their painting.

All supplies are provided, just bring your desire to learn something new and enjoy this no-stress experience of creating a beautiful piece of art you will be proud of. Students will complete a 14” x 18” painting.
